Prescribed pediatric extended care
The PPEC service allow minors from birth through age 20 with medically complex conditions to receive daily medical care in a non-residential setting.
When prescribed by a physician, minors can attend a PPEC up to a maximum of 12 hours per day to receive medical, nursing, psychosocial, therapeutic and developmental services appropriate to their medical condition and developmental status.

NURSING
Nursin Care For Special Needs Children
Lumen has the ideal staff for the care of children in a safe, clean and comfortable environmentwith the accredited experience of its registered nurses (RN) and practical nurses with licensed(LPN) who are responsible for the comprehensive care of the child including medication,manipulation of medical equipment among other aspects of daily life.

Physical Therapy
Our therapists work on gaining, increasing, and maintaining motor skills by developing personalized plans that prevent chronic conditions, increase muscle strength, help manage pain, and improve our children’s quality of life.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Theemotional, sensory and cognitive barriers are addressed by lumen OT specialists in order to improve independence in all aspects of daily life through daily activities, exercises and games that additionally improve the self-esteem of our children.

SPEECH THERAPY
Communication is a fundamental aspect in daily life that is treated by language specialists whose main function is to prevent and disrupt communication disorders and swallowing in children by promoting social skills so that they can express their needs and desires.

BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
In Lumen, behavioral specialists are responsible for using a wide range of techniques to change maladaptive behaviors in order to reinforce desirable behavior and eliminate unwanted behaviors to reach a better adaptation to Society in personalized way.

Therapy
Our therapists are specialized and will help your child achieve their highest potential, reach developmental goals and participate in familiar activities as much as possible. We use some of the most advanced methods to help improve your child’s functional outcomes.

Nursing
Our pediatric caregivers are specialized and include licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and registered nurses (RNs). They are experts in using the most advanced high-tech equipment and care for technology-dependent children and infants who have various conditions and illnesses that affect their lives. Our nurses are trained to give different medications that each child needs for their care and to provide quality care at their bedside.

Social Services
We have a licensed clinical social worker on site at our facility. They help families access local resources, speak up for patient needs, and collaborate with our medical providers. You can talk to our social worker during PPEC hours if you are a parent or a community member.

Transportation
Our center offers transportation services for all children who are eligible for Medicaid and receive our services. We can pick up the child from their home or school, bring them to our center, and then take them back home. We coordinate the pick-up and drop-off times with the parents. Support staff is present on every trip during our transport.
